Plant app comparison

Kipos vs Planta

Both apps connect care with a plant record. Planta has a mature reminder system, diagnosis tools and a community. Kipos takes a narrower approach centered on plant phases and the shared story of a small garden.

The short answer

Choose Planta if you want an established plant-care app with diagnosis, a light meter, detailed reminders, care sharing and an in-app community. Consider Kipos if you have a smaller garden and want an explicit phase on each plant, garden-wide scores and care activity that can become a shareable card.

What each app is for

Planta's current App Store listing covers identification, diagnosis, personalized care schedules, a light meter, journaling and shared care. Its Google Play listing also describes plant growth tracking, care history and an active community.

Kipos's App Store listing describes the current version. You add plants by name, choose their watering intervals, and record care, photos, notes and growth phases.

Which one should you choose?

Choose Planta for breadth and maturity

Planta is the stronger choice when diagnosis, a light meter, Android access, care handoff to another person or an established plant community matters most. Its reminders also cover more named care actions.

Consider Kipos for a focused garden record

Kipos is a simpler fit when you want to see the phase of each plant, keep photos and notes close to care activity, and turn a completed day into something you can share outside the app.

The Planta alternatives page compares Kipos with Greg, PlantIn, PictureThis and Blossom on the same terms.

Kipos's current limits

Kipos is available only in English on iPhone. It does not currently advertise plant diagnosis, a light meter, shared care or an in-app community. It is new and has no public rating history. Planta is the more established, broader plant-care platform.
